This study explores the concept of economic stability in Pakistan in the light of the teachings and economic model of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him). Beginning with the linguistic and technical meanings of ma‘īshat (economy) and a brief overview of Pakistan’s current economic crisis—marked by inflation, unemployment, debt burden, declining exports and institutional weakness—the paper argues that sustainable stability cannot be achieved through conventional interest-based, exploitative structures. Instead, it must be grounded in Prophetic economic principles.Using a descriptive and analytical method based on Qur’anic injunctions and the Seerah, the study identifies key foundations for economic stability: establishment of peace and rule of law, eradication of poverty through work and productive enterprise, a riba-free financial system, protection of basic rights, fair distribution and circulation of wealth, regulated economic freedom within the limits of halal and haram, moderation between extravagance and miserliness, and the institutionalization of zakat, sadaqat and social welfare. The Seerah-based model further emphasizes just trade practices, support for small businesses, investment in education and human capital, responsible borrowing and lending, and a proactive role of the state in justice, revenue management and social protection. The paper concludes that by restructuring its economic policies around these Prophetic foundations—especially the effective implementation of zakat, promotion of interest-free finance, strengthening intra-Muslim trade and encouraging ethical entrepreneurship—Pakistan can move from chronic instability towards a just, resilient and welfare-oriented economy.
