Abstract

The true artistry of Syed Waheed Ul Hassan Hashmi is revealed when he tries his hands on the genre of the Na'at. Here he explores new themes about the Holy Prophet PBUH. His Na'ats exhibit a conscious attempts at rendering this time-honoured and sacred genre with a novel perspective, new diction and a fresh poetic idiom.It is Hashmi's specialty lies that in the quest of newness, he never dissociates from his poetic traditions. His Na'ats show unparalleled poetic greatness because they inherit our sublime poetic traditions. Syed Waheed Ul Hassan Hashmi has successfully tried to present the personality of the Holy Prophet PBUH in the light of the ideas and sentiments of modern man. That is why modern literary trends can be seen breathing in Hashmi's Na'ats.
